The difference between a water pump and a motor
1. Different meanings
Suction pump: Suction pump is a kind of machinery used to increase the pressure of liquid or gas, which can make the pumped medium flow. It is also a device that can be used to move gas, liquid or special fluid medium, referred to as working on fluid mechanical equipment. A pump is a mechanical device that pumps liquid.
Motor: The motor is one of the devices used to drive mechanical movement.
A water pump refers to a water pump composed of a water pump and a water pump motor. Centrifugal pumps, circulating water pumps, and energy-saving water pumps that we use daily are all types of water pumps. The water pump can completely complete the whole water pumping process, and the water pump motor is just a part of the water pump, which is not much different from other motors. Usually, the water pumping is driven by the motor to run the water pump, and there is no way to complete the water pumping work without a water pump or a water pump motor. The structure of some water pumps is a split type, and the water pump motor and the pump body can be separated, while some are connected together, and the water pump and the water pump motor are connected together.
2. The startup method is different
There are four starting methods for pumps: direct start, step-down start, frequency conversion start, and soft start. Direct start is suitable for small-power motors. It is generally suitable for use on water pumps below 15KW, and the price is relatively affordable. Step-down starting refers to starting with triangular conversion. After starting, it can be accelerated twice to reach the rated speed. It is generally suitable for use on pumps above 18.5KW, and the price is relatively moderate. Frequency conversion start is a relatively advanced start. In addition to the advantages of soft start, it can also be set to work at any speed, and the effect of energy saving and consumption reduction is remarkable. Soft start refers to the gradual increase to the rated speed. The impact on the pump is relatively small, and the price will be high, usually about 3 times that of the step-down start.
3. Different in nature
Suction pump: Suction pump refers to a mechanical device that pumps fluid or pressurizes fluid. The mechanical energy of the prime mover or other external energy can be transferred to the liquid, resulting in an increase in the energy of the liquid.
Motor: The motor (electric machinery in English) is also often called a motor, which refers to an electromagnetic device that can realize the conversion or transmission of electric energy by the law of electromagnetic induction.
4. Different functions
Suction pumps: Suction pumps are mainly used to pump liquids such as water, oil, emulsion, acid and alkali, emulsion, liquid metal, etc., and can also pump gas-liquid mixtures and liquids containing suspended solids.
Motor: The motor is represented by the letter M in the circuit, and the old standard is represented by D. Its main function is to generate driving torque as a power source for electrical appliances or various machines. The generator can be represented by the letter G in the circuit to generate electricity. The main function of the machine is to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.
5. Classification is different
Suction pumps: Suction pumps can be divided into positive displacement pumps, dynamic pumps, and other types of pumps according to their working principles. In addition to classification according to the working principle, it can also be classified and named according to other methods. According to the driving method, it can be divided into water turbine pump and electric pump, etc. According to the structure, it can be divided into single-stage pump and multi-stage pump. According to the application, it can be divided into boiler feed water pump and diaphragm pump. , oil pumps, mud pumps, etc. According to shaft and shaftless, it can be divided into linear pump and traditional pump. The water pump can only pump fluid with fluid as the medium and cannot pump solids.
Motor: According to the type of working power supply, it can be divided into DC motor and AC motor. According to the structure and working principle, it can be divided into DC motor, synchronous motor, asynchronous motor and so on.
